Metamorphoses
Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses is a play based on Ovid’s classical myths, told through a series of short scenes that all explore the theme of transformation. Set around a pool of water that symbolizes change, renewal, and fluidity, the play weaves together timeless stories of gods and mortals. Some of the most well-known myths include King Midas, who learns the dangers of greed after his golden touch turns his daughter to gold; Orpheus and Eurydice, whose tragic love ends when Orpheus looks back too soon; and Alcyone and Ceyx, whose devotion to one another leads the gods to transform them into seabirds so they may remain together. Other tales, such as Narcissus falling in love with his own reflection, Phaeton’s reckless ride of the sun chariot, and Baucis and Philemon’s wish to die together as trees, highlight human desires, flaws, and longings. Blending humor, poetry, and contemporary language with myth, Metamorphoses reflects on love, loss, mortality, and the enduring power of change, showing how these ancient stories still speak to modern audiences.

9 to 5: The Musical follows three women—Violet, Judy, and Doralee—who work at Consolidated Industries and suffer under their sexist, selfish boss, Franklin Hart Jr. Violet is an experienced employee constantly overlooked for promotion, Judy is a newly divorced woman entering the workforce for the first time, and Doralee is a kind secretary who is unfairly judged because of rumors. After bonding over their frustrations, the women imagine getting revenge on Hart and accidentally end up kidnapping him. While keeping him tied up at his house, they secretly take control of the office and make major improvements for the employees. Their changes include flexible hours, equal treatment, and a more positive workplace environment, which greatly boosts productivity. Hart eventually escapes and tries to expose them, but the company chairman arrives and is impressed by the office’s success. In the end, Hart is removed from power, Violet earns a promotion, Judy gains confidence, and Doralee pursues her own dreams.

Ride The Cyclone
Ride the Cyclone follows six teens from the St. Cassian High School choir who die in a roller-coaster accident and awaken in a bizarre carnival afterlife. Guided by a fortune-telling machine named Karnak, they each perform a song revealing who they were and why they might deserve a second chance at life. Their stories range from comedic to haunting, including the mysterious Jane Doe, who has no memory of her past. Ultimately, the group chooses to let the kind, self-effacing Constance return to the living, realizing that compassion matters more than competition.
